Dashboard¶

The dashboard is the home screen of Kamerplanter. It gives you a quick overview of your plants, upcoming tasks, active warnings, and key metrics — all at a glance without having to navigate through individual sections. You can fully build your own selection of widgets.

Opening the Dashboard¶

The dashboard opens automatically after logging in. You can reach it at any time via the Kamerplanter logo or the Dashboard navigation entry.

Using Panels as Navigation Shortcuts¶

Most panels are more than a read-only overview: click or tap a panel outside of edit mode to jump straight to the matching detail or list view. A small arrow (chevron) on the right edge shows you which panels are navigable.

Two panels are a deliberate exception: Quick actions is itself already a tile overview with its own destinations, and Weather forecast remains a pure information display without its own destination.

A panel only links you to places you're actually allowed to navigate to: if the module belonging to a panel is hidden, the associated widget doesn't appear on your dashboard in the first place. On smartphones, the entire panel (or, for widgets with individual entries, each single row or tile) is your tap target (at least 48x48 pixels); on desktop you can also reach every navigable destination by keyboard (Tab key) and open it with Enter.

Jumping Directly to a Single Entry¶

Three widgets go one step further than plain panel navigation: they display individual entries and link each one directly to its own detail page.

• Plant grid (tile grid): Here, the whole tile doesn't link to a single destination — name, species, location, and the phase chip are each their own link to the matching detail page. See "Plant Grid" further below for details.
• Tasks today and Next events: Tap or click a single task row to go directly to that task's detail page. The Tasks today widget now also shows the upcoming tasks as a list, in addition to its counts.

For these three widgets, clicking the panel's empty area no longer opens a list — instead, a dedicated arrow icon at the top of the widget header ("open list") still takes you to the matching overview page, while each row or tile takes you straight to the individual entry.

Dashboard Sections at a Glance¶

Plant Grid¶

The Plant grid widget shows every active plant of yours as its own card.

The card's title is the plant's speaking name: if you've given it its own name, the card shows that; otherwise it shows the species' common name, with the cultivar name added when one is set. The internal instance number (e.g. "No. 7432") is additionally shown small as a reference — never on its own as the sole title.

Alongside name, species and current growth phase, every card now also shows the location — in both card formats, compact and detailed — and, if available, the next due date. Plants with an open task or care reminder are additionally flagged clearly: a coloured border, a warning icon and the text badge "Open task" show you this even if you can't distinguish colours.

The filter bar above the cards lets you narrow the overview down — by phase, location, or whether an open task is present. Multiple filters can be combined; an empty result shows you a matching notice.

The toggle next to it lets you choose the card format:

• Detailed — larger cards adding species, cultivar, location and next due date on top of name and phase
• Compact — more, narrower cards with name, species, location, phase and the task indicator

Your choice is stored in your browser and persists across reloads.

Every piece of information on the card is its own link to the matching detail page — the card itself is no longer a single, card-wide link:

• Name → the plant's detail page
• Species → the species' detail page in Master Data
• Location → the location's detail page
• Phase chip → the detail page of the matching phase definition, provided the current phase can be resolved unambiguously; if it can't, the card shows the phase chip without a link

The due date in the detailed view is informational only and not a link.

Upcoming Tasks¶

The task block shows the next due tasks sorted by urgency:

• Overdue tasks appear in red at the top
• Tasks due today appear in orange
• Tasks for the next 7 days appear in the default color

Click a task to open it or mark it directly as complete.

Warnings and Notices¶

The warning block shows active messages that need attention:

• Red (critical): Harvest blocked by pre-harvest interval, sensor failed, tank empty
• Orange (warning): Overdue tasks, EC outside target range, probe calibration due
• Blue (info): Recommendations, notices about upcoming phase transitions

Click a warning to go directly to the affected area.

Tank Quick Overview¶

If you have tanks configured, the dashboard shows the current state of your tanks: - Fill level in % or litres - Current EC value (with traffic-light indicator: green = in target range, yellow = deviation, red = outside range) - pH value (with traffic-light indicator) - Next water change

Weather Forecast and Frost Early-Warning¶

If you've set up a weather source for one of your outdoor or greenhouse sites, the Weather forecast widget shows its daily forecast: minimum and maximum temperature per day, each with the provenance label of the underlying source (e.g. Open-Meteo, DWD, or your Home Assistant weather station). If you manage several sites, the widget shows the first site with stored GPS coordinates and a configured source; the site name is shown alongside it.

If a frost night is expected for that site within the forecast window, a prominently highlighted frost early-warning also appears, with the expected date and the predicted minimum temperature — before the temperature has actually dropped. Kamerplanter also actively informs you about the same frost night via notification.

Without a configured weather source, without stored GPS coordinates for the site, or as long as your operator hasn't enabled the weather forecast feature, the widget instead shows a hint with a link to the site setup.

Care Reminders Dashboard¶

Alongside the main dashboard there is a dedicated Care View that groups your plants by urgency of the next care action:

• Immediate: Plants whose care interval expires today or has already passed
• Today: Plants that need attention today
• This Week: Plants with care needs in the next 7 days
• No Need: Plants with no planned care action in the near future

This view is especially useful for people with many houseplants who want to see quickly which plant needs water or fertilizer today.

Dashboard Adaptation by Experience Level¶

The dashboard adapts to your experience level (configurable under Account → Settings → Experience Level):

Beginner: - Simplified view focusing on care tasks - No technical metrics (EC, VPD) - Friendly phrasing ("Your tomatoes need water")

Intermediate: - All care tasks plus tank status - EC and pH as numbers (without deep analysis) - Harvest forecasts

Expert: - Full metrics view - Additional panels: Tank status, Phase timeline, Plant grid - Yield trends and comparisons
